Entries Open for Bacardi Legacy 2015

Calling South Africa's best bartenders! The BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition 2015 is here—and the search for this year's winning cocktail has officially begun. Last year, Assaf Yechiel from Orphanage Cocktail Emporium in Cape Town was crowned the national champion with his winning cocktail The "Dream Catcher".

"My cocktail is about inspiring people to follow through with their –" I would love to do that" moments," said Assaf. "To live a little more, worry a little less and embrace life's bizarre and wonderful gifts. Quite simply, it's about being a Dream Catcher."

The "Dream Catcher" is an exquisite concoction comprising of a balance of simple yet complex flavours: Bacardi Superior Rum, fresh pomegranate juice, dill syrup and a dash of Fernet Branca– shaken and served short over cubed ice. The 2014 finale took place at Katy's Palace in Sandton, Johannesburg where seven finalists from all over South Africa battled for the top spot.

At the last Global Finals Assaf captured his dreams, and went on to represent the ever improving art and skill of South African bartendering on the in Moscow in May this year, alongside 28 representatives from all over the world. His experience gained him the respect of the international and local industry, a host of prizes and a future so bright, he's lucky he works at night...

How does it work? 'The BACARDÍ Legacy Cocktail Competition is an opportunity for bartenders to create a cocktail that will stand the test of time alongside well-known classics such as the Mojito, Daiquiri, and Pina Colda. Essentially they are being asked to create a cocktail that will be their legacy.

The competition is open to both long and short drinks.

How do you enter? Simply go online to www.bacardilegacy.com and submit your name and email address. You will then be contacted by a member of the BACARDÍ team and asked for a full recipe, an image of the cocktail and the inspiration behind its creation. Each recipe must feature Bacardi Superior Rum or Bacardi Gold Rum as the primary spirit. All recipes will be collected and the cocktails will be evaluated, in person, by the Bacardi team.

And now for the prize:
• The title of BACARDÍ Legacy South Africa and a hand finished, beautifully crafted trophy.
• An all expenses paid trip to the Global Final in 2015 to represent South Africa.
