KWV Wins Brandy and Wine Awards

The KWV team celebrated a Finish Great moment at the Veritas Awards this month as the company left with an impressive haul of awards.

Aside from taking the prestigious Producer of the Year award for the 5th consecutive year, KWV won 9 Double Golds. All in all, they took:

  • 6 Double Golds and 9 Golds for WINE
  • 3 Double Golds and 1 Gold for BRANDY

Among the medals are the below three products, and MUDL was lucky enough to get a bottle of each delivered to our offices. Good times!

KWV Mentors Sauvignon Blanc 2013

The grapes used to craft the Mentors range are mentored through specific site selection, treatment in the vineyards and special cellar care. Look out for scents of cut grass, graefruit and asparagus. The palate is full, textured and layered, with hints of gunflint.

KWV Classic Collection Cape Tawny

Extended wood maturationi (8-10 years in a combination of 300L and 500L French oak barrels) results in an amber with orange zest, dried fruit, caramel and nuttiness on the nose.

KWV 10YO Brandy

KWV 10YO is a consistent award winner; a 100% potstill spirit aged for a decade in French oak barrels.

Top quality Colombar and Chenin grapes are selected and distilled in copper potstills and matured in authentic small French oak barrels. The brandy has a deep amber colour with prunes, peaches and apricots on the nose, along with vanilla and oakwood.
