November 16th, 2014 marked the 80th anniversary of Trader Vic's as a family owned global enterprise. The venue is as popular as it has ever been and continues to expand.
In addition to celebrating 80 years in business, 2014 ushers in the 70th year of the legendary Mai Tai cocktail, invented in 1944 by Victor Bergeron.
The flagship restaurant in Emeryville, California overlooking the San Francisco Bay since 1972 from its original location in Oakland in 1934, has been a popular destination for three generations. Last year marked the 50th anniversary of Trader Vic's first international location at Trader Vic's London on Park Lane. This year, a number of the locations are celebrating their own milestones. Trader Vic's Tokyo rings in 40 years. Trader Vic's Abu Dhabi at the Beach Rotana Hotel and Trader Vic's Dubai Crowne Plaza have flourished for 20 years in the Middle East. Looking forward, Trader Vic's Atlanta will ring in 40 years in 2016.
